News in 2010

The Centre hosted its first training event  in 10th December 2010 at Blackwell Grange Hotel. The training entitled 'Stop the Traffic' was delivered by Right of Women and was a huge success.

In November 2010 several volunteers attended training on 'Working with people who have Learning Disabilities who have experienced Sexual Abuse' delivered by Tyneside Rape Crisis.

In October 2010, 4 workers attended training in London on 'Sexual Violence, Drugs and Alcohol',hosted by AVA (Against Violence and Abuse) and delivered by SERICC (South East Rape & Incest Crisis Centre).

In August 2010 the Centre received a 3 year grant from the Northern Rock Foundation to fund the Chief Executive. We are very grateful for their ongoing support.

We are currently recruiting female volunteers for our training programme. When qualified you will offer telephone support to those who contact our helpline - we also have a small number of volunteer counsellor placements for those working towards Degree or Diploma qualification. ...
